It is finally April, and Easter is coming up this weekend. Gavin had requested that we go visit the Easter Bunny, but I, being the slacker mom that I am, did not oblige. We will be dying eggs, and Ryan and I did get basket stuff, but we are limiting it to one stuffy and one non-noisy toy. And a chocolate bunny, which Gav will love since they never get candy.

Ryan was gone this past Saturday for a school function, so the kids and I went down to Ferry Beach in Scarborough, which is an old haunt of Ryan and I where we used to take the dogs. It was a bit breezy, but otherwise beautiful, and the kids really enjoyed playing on the sand. Most of the pics today are from our little excursion. I spent the morning on Sunday making bagels (super yummy and successful experiment) chèvre (complete and total failure and utter waste of raw goat milk) and yogurt (again, fabulous if I do say so myself). I have managed to get Gavin to admit that homemade is generally better, with the exception of Kraft or Annie's Mac and cheese, which in his mind ranks as The Greatest and Most Wonderful Food Product Ever Invented By Anyone Ever In the Whole History of the Entire World, so not much can compete with that.
Annah is doing great. She is talking up a storm, and we are pretty sure she is saying meaningful things, but no one speaks Toddlerese in the house. We are trying to learn, but she has gotten really good and her sign language and head bobs to communicate as well. Big news for her was that she fell down the basement stairs this week under the watchful and responsible eye of her mother. She was fine, but a bit startled, and she also "acknowledged" that she maybe should still have someone carry her. So I guess I can trust her around the stairs now.....
Gavin, as a consequence of his deep and unconditional love of the Mac, had his first run with constipation. If you are wondering if you should continue or not due to squeamish nature, probably best to not. Though those with children can take it I'm sure. We went a whole week. Finally last Wednesday, doctor mom decided it was time, and two suppositories, 1.5 cups prune juice, and a half dose of miralax later, the poor kid was flying into the bathroom. I perhaps overdid it just a smidge. Then the next day at school, they were going around the room discussing what things they didn't like. Gavin told his class that he didn't like it when he could not poop. But, then with the insight I try to instill in my children, he added "but it's just a temporary thing.". Bravo, young Skywalker. The force is strong in you.
